Bout of Books Update: Day 1

Day 1 of the Bout of Books Readathon is done!  I had a pretty good reading day.  I managed to read one whole book :)

Cath Staincliffe is my go-to author for readathons - her books are pretty short, always gripping and fast paced!

I also read around 25 pages of How To Be Good by Nick Hornby ... though this one is not really grabbing me at the moment and I might put it down and pick something else up instead.

Summary
Total pages read:  218 (Dead Wrong) + 25 (How To Be Good) = 243 pages
Total books read: 1

Thanks for reminding me that I still have How To Be Good unread on my shelf. The last time I tried it (... five, six years ago?) I was so bored and I don't think I even managed 25 pages. Maybe I should try it again? Past!me had horrible taste in books so maybe I'll like it now.
If Cath Staincliffe is your go-to author for readathons I should try her maybe because I usually choose books that are less than ideal for readathons.

Sounds like you've made a great start to the read-a-thon. I managed to read half of Netherland so far, which is pretty good going by my own account. I've never read any Cath Staincliffe - is she a crime thrillerly type writer?

Great start to the readathon! I haven't read anything by Staincliffe, I'll have to look into her books :)

Yep, Cath Staincliffe writes crime fiction. The Sal Kilkenny series (of which Dead Gone is no. 3, though you don't need to read them in order) focuses on the investigations of a private investigator. They are very good, quite short, fast paced reads - no waffle!

Nice start! You've already wrapped up a book. That's not too shabby. BTW...I love your book stack photo at the top of the blog. Adorable!
