A musical interlude ...

Not much going on here creatively at the moment ... well, not much I can share anyway! So I'll share this video instead, which I find HUGELY inspiring - that's if you don't get mesmerised by Chris Martin's turquoise blue eyes .... If any of you have ever picked up a paintbrush I implore you to watch this video!

I'm not weird!

Kaz's next prompt in the no pressure, all fun, Bubbly Funk journalling challenge was "I'm not weird, I'm limited edition"! I think this is probably true for most people to be honest!

Here's my page:

Video coming soon!

Also ... Coldplay. How amazing are they? I used to think I didn't like them, but I watched Gary Barlow's Children In Need night on Thursday and holy smokes, did Coldplay rock the place! Shame tickets for their Summer tour were £70 each! I shall have to be content with them playing directly into my ears via my earphones instead :( Oh and YouTube. Amazing videos on YouTube <3

Update! Had a second look at tickets, saw that some were only (!) £50, sweet talked hubby and two Coldplay tickets in the bag for my birthday! Result!

AND the winner is ......

Natasha picked YOU!

Yay Karen! let me have your address and I'll get it sent off to you!

Several years ago, when I first discovered scrapbooking, UKScrappers was my second home. It was the place to be to learn about everything and anything to do with scrapbooking. For some reason over the last year or so, I kind of fell a little bit out of love with scrapbooking and moved on to art journalling and more painty, messy pastimes. I've always kept an eye on UKS though, and have recently rekindled my love for it and am even feeling the stirrings of scrapbook page in me!

MaryAnne, the founder of UKS, is pulling out all the stops this year, and it sounds like UKS is going to be having a major overhaul. No details have as yet been revealed, but it sounds like there will be lots of challenges and classes going on throughout the year, not just about scrapbooking but art journalling, card making, photography and who knows what else MaryAnne is conjuring up!

As for the photography challenge ... this is something I know a little bit more about as I happen to be running it! The snap:2012 challenge will be exclusive to UKScrappers, and all will be revealed there in the new year, so keep your eyes peeled!

Of course, if you want a full on extreme challenge (snap: 2012 will be a rather more sedate affair!) then you can still sign up to join my 365+1 photo-a-day-with-a-word-prompt-a-day challenge! (Catchy title huh?!) AND if you want to take part in both, that will be completely possible!

Bring on 2012! I'm ready! (but I must do some Christmas shopping first ....)

This post will stay at the top until the giveaway has been given away :) Please scroll down for the latest posts.

As a thank you to my lovely blog readers who have encouraged me so much lately, I've decided to give this painting away to one of you! If you would like to be in with a chance of receiving this, all you have to do is leave a comment on this post. I'll keep this open until 16.00hrs UK time on Wednesday 16 November, and will announce the winner here on that day!

I used mostly acrylic paints on this, with a bit of spray paint and some charcoal pencil. It's on a block canvas, approximately 9x12 inches. The block is approximately 0.5 inch deep.

A Caravan Page

I did this page for the Tangie Baxter's Art Journal Caravan - slowly trying to catch up. I think this is for week 25 or so ... the quote comes from the prompts Tangie gives us. I did start to video the process of this page, but the recorder ran out of juice and I didn't realise until the end! Also, it's getting kind of hard to take photos of this journal - I'm using an exercise book for this project (which I bought in Walmart on holiday :)) and the book is getting quite thick now ...

NaNoJouMo Days 8 and 9

Still managing to keep up with this ...

Here's day 8 - "make a list"!

And here's today's ... "true blue"! A tricky one ...

I've lost my lovely background! I was messing about and did something to make it not show up properly, so deleted it, but now I can't get on shabbyblogs.com to get it back :( boo hoo!

ALSO, don't forget to enter my giveaway in the post above to win a mixed media canvas by moi! :D xx

New video is up!

This is a video for the 'open mind' page I made for Kaz's challenge over on Bubbly Funk:

Sunday, November 06, 2011

Just a couple of pages ...

Catching up with NaNoJouMo ...

This is day 5 - the prompt was to draw a map of any kind - I went for a mind map with the random thoughts that are filling my mind!

And Day 6 was "Where Am I" - here's mine ... I challenged myself not to use any gesso on this page, a tough task as I seem to be addicted to the stuff! (I kind of maybe cheated a little with the white dots but they are acrylic paint, not gesso ...)

The colours haven't translated well to photo - it's a bit dark here to be taken photos!

NaNoJouMo day 4 ...

A little behind now, but here's my page inspired by the prompt "Matters of the Heart"

See how I made this page here:

Another page was created today (along with video) but I'm not sure I'll get the video edited and processed tonight as I have a hot date with Harry Judd on Strictly Come Dancing!

NaNoJouMo Day 3 ...

... and I'm still up to date!

The prompt today is 'Hopes and Fears'. I read the quote while I was at work and from the moment I saw it I had this song going round in my head ...

Everybody's Changing by Keane ... from the album Hopes and Fears. This song brings back many memories from a time in my life, not too long ago, that was full of hopes and fears, mainly to do with my job at the time (ITU Nurse). Anyway, here's my page:

Another quick and simple one!

Thanks for popping by x

Wednesday faffing ...

Wednesday is my day off work (lucky me to only work 4 days a week!) and so today I have been faffing and fiddling. Fiddled with my blog (I'm not feeling the header at the moment - more fiddling will commence - fiddling completed!) and faffing with paint and paper.

Here's a page I did for Tangie Baxter's Art Journal Caravan (here's a link to the blog). This is a 'prompt a week' type project and I am waaaaaaay behind! I struggled with this prompt - it was all about measurement - so in the end I just went with one of the quotes given:

Not the best photo as I'm being lazy and taking all these photos on my iPhone - which is a great camera. Also I've just realised I've made a mistake in the quote ... oh well!

Here's a video of how I made this page! I was trying to challenge myself not to have a focal image cut from a magazine on the page ... and I did struggle!

Here's a couple of pics I was going to add to the end of the video ... but shame got the better of me! The aftermath:

And here's a really quick, simple page I made for the NaNoJouMo prompt today. I'm up to date so far! I hesitate to even call this an art journal page ... I (eventually) printed off my own photo of the sunrise over Christchurch Beach from my recent few days in Bournemouth, stuck it to the page, used some Caran D'Ache water soluble crayons around the edge, added the title and voila!

And she's on a roll!

First of all, thank you for the lovely comments I've received on my first YouTube video! I'm so pleased some of you have enjoyed it and found some inspiration from it!

So, yes, I've done another page and video! Tash nagged me into doing the video, I wasn't going to but gave in in the end!

This page is for the NaNoJouMo challenge being run by Dawn DeVries Sokol for the month of November ... I doubt I'll keep up with it every day, but I'll definitely be dipping in for inspiration! The first prompt was "take flight".

Now I usually don't plan pages in advance. But I was conscious of being videoed for this one so I did have a sort of plan in my head. As usual, however, things didn't go quite according to plan. The page turned out a lot darker than I wanted (the photo makes it look even darker!), the wings don't pop out as much as I'd like (think I might highlight them a bit more with the white pen) and I added a bit more glitter after the video ends ...

The video is currently being processed by YouTube, but should appear here soon!
