Day Off Wednesday!

Hurrah!  It feels like ages since I actually had a day off to myself as I've been having to make up a few days of work I missed due to school closures in the snow. (I know how lucky I am to work only part-time!).  So this morning I've rushed around to tidy up a bit and do some washing, and then I finished off my piece for lesson 2 of Mixed Media Melange on the Land of Lost Luggage!  We had to work with neutrals ...

The photo is of my grandparents "sunning" themselves on what looks like a very windy beach, fully dressed with their shoes on, as is the British way!  I LOVE the fact that my nan has her handbag on her lap - she was never far from her handbag, and when she died her handbag went with her up to heaven :)!

The Land of Lost Luggage

Julie Prichard and Chris Cozen run some amazing classes over at The Land of Lost Luggage.  The latest one I've signed up for is Mixed Media Melange, and here are my pieces for the first leasson.  I'm using Golden Fluid Acrylics for the first time, and they are gorgeous to work with .... although I am going to have a go at doing these with the Eco Friendly paints as well to see how that works out ...

Hmmm, so I was clearly feeling a bit pink on Sunday and started making a canvas.  I was inspired by a gorgeous book of birds that I found for £2.99 in a charity shop!  Here's what I came up with:

It's a bit of a crappy picture due to there being no light (come on Spring!!) - it's a lot brighter in real life.  I threw on all sorts - old text paper, old maps, tissue, organza, acrylics, stamping, stencilling .... The only trouble is, my home is very not pink, so I have no idea what I'm going to do with it now!
